There is an old saying that what happens to us in life is not as important as how we handle it. Whenever loss occurs, you either resist (placing a shell around yourself and being closed) or yield (inner acceptance of what is – whether you like it or not -- and remain open to life). Those that resist usually become bitter, deeply resentful and deteriorate, while those that yield can become compassionate, loving and grow. Your state of mind directs your outcome.
There is power in your choice of reaction to your difficulties in memory and thinking. Forming a team of individuals surrounding you, who all believe as you do that: You are not at war with a terrible disease but instead you are adapting to changes in yourself; at all stages of these problems you still remain undiminished as a person, even if you’re thinking is diminishing; etc. With this approach, you can be open to effectively make the positive life changes that are possible for you.
